The Head Women’s Golf Coach should build a sense of community and enthusiasm around the program by engaging the student body, alumni, parents and fans. Strong relational skills with internal and external constituents are critical. This position coordinates all phases of the program. This position requires flexibility to travel and work weekends and evenings when necessary. This is a full-time 10-month position.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead all phases of the intercollegiate Women's Golf Team.
Develop teams that are competitive within the conference, region, and nation by maximizing the student-athletes' talents. Supports the educational goals of individual student-athletes by demonstrating a coaching philosophy that encourages those goals and promotes an environment conducive to both.
Establish a competitive schedule, coordinate team travel, and maintain compliance with the college guidelines for class hours missed.
Evaluate and compare athletic talent for potential growth and development of student-athletes while maintaining correspondence with prospects through phone, email, and in-person visits.
Inventory, manage and update equipment.
Manage operational budget while demonstrating fiscal responsibility and support of cost containment initiatives while overseeing the purchase of inventory, uniforms, equipment, and travel.
Supervise student athletes in the varsity weight room.
Understand and comply with all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Div III, Rhodes College, SAA (Southern Athletic Conference), and Rhodes College Athletics, working with the compliance office to make sure programs and student-athletes are complying with all rules and regulations regarding compliance issues. All athletic staff should score a minimum of 75 on the NCAA Rules Test.
Collaborate with the College and athletic units, including admissions, financial aid, academic support, compliance, and development.
Complete all credit card reconciliations, email correspondence, and return phone calls promptly, meeting deadlines as directed.
Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred in higher education, sports administration, student personnel, business administration, or related field.
This position requires a valid driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.
Three years of high school and/or college coaching experience in Golf is preferred
Must communicate effectively with all types of people, and establish and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and other college personnel.
Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Physical Demands:
Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position involves both inside sedentary work and work on different fields and on other fitness environments while coaching and training situations with student-athletes. Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers’ table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel is necessary.
