Boise State University invites interested applicants to apply for the Director of Campus Recreation position and become a part of the Campus Recreation team as we build an engaged community that encourages healthy, active people and enhances student success. The Director of Campus Recreation serves as the senior department administrator and provides strategic leadership, direction, and support for a variety of organizational functions including: facility operations, program design and implementation, financial management, risk management, and personnel management. The Director will directly supervise the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations, Associate Director of Programs and Communications, and the Senior Business Manager. The Director of Campus Recreation will report to the Assistant Vice President of Divisional Operations.

You will have the opportunity to:
Lead and develop high performing teams including vision setting, consensus building, goal setting, and staff development.
Provide strategic operational direction over Campus Recreation facilities, including the Student Recreation Center, the Aquatic Complex, Lincoln Turf Field, and IM Grass Field.
Provide strategic programming support for a variety of recreational programs including Aquatics, Fitness, Rec Sports, and Outdoors.
Manage a $3.5 million budget and provide financial stewardship over student fees.
Lead and support large, capital improvement projects that modernize facility spaces and optimize utilization.
Collaborate across a student-centered division to provide meaningful opportunities to enhance student wellbeing and success.
Salary and benefits: Salary: $95,000 - $100,000

At a minimum you should have:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience within a department of Campus Recreation.
Five (5) years of experience supervising and managing full-time recreation professionals in a higher education setting.
The preferred candidate will have:
Master’s Degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Athletic Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
Five (5) years of experience leading and developing high performing teams including vision setting, consensus building, managing performance, and staff development.
Five (5) years of experience managing large, complex budgets within a higher education setting and providing financial stewardship over student fees.
Experience leading and/or supporting large, complex recreation centers and aquatic facilities including day-to-day operations, risk management, facility maintenance and custodial services, and long-term capital planning.
Experience leading and/or supporting student-centered recreational programming in a higher education setting including aquatics, club sports, fitness, informal recreation, intramural sports, and outdoor recreation.
Experience leading and/or supporting large, capital improvement projects and ability to provide strategic direction throughout the project management lifecycle.
