Overview
The head men’s lacrosse coach leads and directs an intercollegiate NCAA Division III lacrosse program and duties include but are not limited to: effective programmatic vision, planning and implementation; all coaching and instruction; sound business and financial management; recruitment, supervision of assistant coaches; individual and team leadership and achievement; successful recruitment of student-athletes and assistance with programs for their retention and graduation; some fund and friend-raising; compliance with national, local, university, NCAA and conference laws, by-laws, regulations, standards and codes.
Responsibilities
Coaching, Training, Instruction Perform as a professional educator and role model to enable individual students to develop as student-athletes and to work together as a successful, competitive intercollegiate team. Provide practice and game planning, implementation and assessment including but not limited to management of schedules, athletic participation and support services, facilities, marketing, and promotion in close collaboration with other colleagues and service providers.
Recruitment Lead the recruitment of student-athletes who demonstrate the potential to be successful academically and by competing in the lacrosse program.
Academic Oversight
Mentor and monitor the academic success of the student-athletes
Budget Planning, Fiscal Management and Travel Coordination
Provide sound business and financial management in areas including but not limited to expenses, operating budgets, procurement of goods, services and equipment while also organizing and supervision of all team related travel.
Ensure compliance with national, local, university, NCAA, Landmark Conference, regulations, standards and codes. (Note: The violation of NCAA and conference rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination).
Recruit, supervise, train and evaluate assistant coaching staff.
Provide support for large departmental events (i.e., senior athlete banquet) while also consistently connecting with program and institutional alums to maintain sound relationships between all parties.
Assist with facility supervision as appropriate.
Spearhead fundraising efforts to support programmatic needs and enhancements.
Bachelor’s Degree and must have proven success coaching at the collegiate and/or high school or club level
Proficiency in computer software applications: Word, Excel, Office, etc.
U.S. Lacrosse Level 3 certification preferred.
Knowledge of Front Rush (or similar) recruiting database tools, and relevant film break-down programs.
