Principal Responsibilities:
Accounting and Budgeting
Oversee the creation and maintenance of accurate financial records, prepare periodic financial statements, and report on financial affairs of the School to the President and the Board of Trustees.
Prepare financial records for annual independent audit and assist the audit team in preparation of the annual form 990
Prepare, in conjunction with the President, annual budgets and financial forecasts
Make recommendations and provide justification for setting annual tuition and fees to the Board of Trustees
Manage the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial information
Administer and maintain all property, casualty, liability, and all other forms of insurance
Prepare all monthly bank reconciliations
Reconcile gift income with the Development Department
Supervise student billing and general accounting operations
Supervise all incoming cash receipts and deposits
Provide support in the hiring, training of accounting staff
Communicate accounting policies to employees and ensure compliance with such policies
Prepare all periodic surveys and Peer reports
Ensure all Financial Aid documents are complete and ready for review with the President to determine awards, monitor budget and award amounts, and manage appeals.
Facilities
Supervise the Director of Facilities and assist with the creation and monitoring of the Campus Facility Plan
Manage the facility rental process
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, accounting or finance. Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
5-7 years of accounting, management experience in a leadership position. Experience in the not-for-profit environment is preferred. Experience in an independent school environment is a plus.
Strong analytical and financial management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to present complicated information in a clear and concise format
Ability to work well with faculty, staff, parents and the community
