Stone Ridge is seeking an Accounts Payable & Business Office Associate to begin in June 2022.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Accounts Payable & Business Office Associate supports the work of the Business Office and the School in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. The Accounts Payable & Business Office Associate is responsible for:
- processing invoices
- preparing check payments
- submitting payments to a third party processing service;
- depositing checks, both online and at the bank;
- managing petty cash;
- tracking and processing corporate credit card bills;
- supporting the Business Office in various ways, including preparations for the annual audit; filing; maintaining financial records; accounting for certain programs and budget areas; and managing postage meter account funding and maintenance service.
The Accounts Payable & Business Office Associate must be a highly motivated individual with excellent quantitative, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The desired candidate should have experience with accounting systems, preferably Blackbaud, and be experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel, email, and the G Suite. This position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO, aka Director of Finance) and indirectly to the Controller. This team member is a valued role within the Business Office team which, in addition to the CAO and Controller, includes the Payroll & Business Office Associate, Student Billing Manager, Director of Human Resources, and Human Resources Manager.
Position responsibilities:
- Accounts payable (via conventional check and third-party processor)
- Check and funds deposits
- Petty cash / cash handling
- Corporate credit cards
- Assistance to the Controller and CAO, including:
- Preparing for the annual audit
- Maintaining fixed asset records
- Maintaining contract records
- Accounting for prepaid expenses
- Managing office filing and archival financial records
- Managing the postal machine
- Express mail shipping management
- Other duties to support the Business Office and School operations as may be necessary.

Position essential skills and experience:
- Five (5) years of experience in an accounting, finance, and/or office management role.
- Undergraduate degree required.
- Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets and financial systems.
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, flexibly, and adaptively.
