Oversees daily activities of personnel who maintain the purchase and distribution of OR materials, supplies, equipment and special purchases; coordinates repair and replacement of defective equipment; monitors usage and storage of supplies; assists in identifying quantity and quality for OR purchases. Acts as liaison to purchasing, central supply department and OR with respect to inventory control. 1. Orders, receives and checks in surgical instruments and equipment and supplies for the surgical suite. Ensures all orders are accurately complete and have appropriate authorization. Identifies and maintains appropriate inventory.* 2. Takes appropriate action for repair, maintenance or replacement of equipment and surgical instruments. Ensures safety, checks for all equipment prior to initial use are completed as appropriate. Monitors monthly Hazard Alerts and recall sheets. May monitor sterilization procedure and records.* 3. Maintains relevant records for equipment, instruments and supplies.* 4. Participates in the ongoing maintenance of an automated computer system for ordering supplies and tracking stock and non-stock items. Works with general support of purchasing department to keep the computer item file database current and in agreement with the master database in purchasing.* 5. Meets with sales reps and service personnel; follows up on repairs and equipment. May collaborate with Purchasing Department to develop contracts and vendor discounts.* 6. Assists in preparation of dept budget and provides justification for expenses exceeding budget. Provide input in capital and manpower budget for areas of responsibility. Maintains filed reports upon request to keep department management personnel informed of inventory status and budget performance.* 7. Performs other duties as assigned.*
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Associate's degree in Science or Business preferred.
3. Three to five years progressively more responsible OR technician experience preferred.
