A small real estate company, based in Colorado is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the Finance team as a Senior Investment Accountant. The ideal teammate will have demonstrated strong communication skills for facilitating the flow of information between the investment team, shared service teams, and third-party service providers as well as technical skills for reviewing accrual and fair market value hotel and investment company financial statements, maintain performance tracking models and build automated reports for use by management and other stakeholders.
About the Position
You will assist the VP of Finance with streamlining investment company activities for increased visibility of multiple investment vehicles that own operating and development real estate properties.
You will support financial and social impact decision-making for the company by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting data accurately and timely. You will apply accounting concepts, theories, and best practices to develop solutions to problems. The position will require a dynamic candidate who is comfortable with tasks on all ends of the spectrum, works well in a team environment and can multi-task and prioritize with effective communication. Experience in hospitality, real estate investment and/or development accounting preferred.
Work directly with shared services and vice presidents to ensure timely payment and accurate accounting for all cash activities to maintain strong vendor relationships
Delegate and collaborate with shared service and third-party accountants to ensure accuracy and timeliness of property-level and company level monthly/quarterly/annual reports
Identify, report, and ensure reconciliation/understanding of accounting discrepancies, budget variances, areas of financial risk, and opportunity
Assist in internal control assessment and action plan implementation to mitigate risk
Provide financial and social impact reporting and analysis to internal and external business partners and lenders
Manage compliance calendar and meet reporting and payment deadlines. Responsibilities range from managing deadlines for general reporting and loan, insurance and tax compliance. (Tax compliance includes property tax payments as well as historic tax and opportunity zone tax credit compliance.)
Assist in accounting system implementation including leveraging data automation best practices to provide insightful reporting and process efficiencies to streamline backoffice operations and track company-wide KPIs
Work closely with asset management and assist in investment company and property level cash management and forecasting for management planning needs
Oversee CIP and Fixed Asset accounting and opening accounting activities for development and operating properties
Present multi-faceted information and financial reports, providing additional analysis and information as needed
Coordinate with other staff to provide support for other finance and accounting projects
Provide support to tax department for compliance and tax return preparation
Perform other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives

Bachelors’ degree in accounting or related field
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in an accounting role within a professional setting
Strong technical skills, including knowledge and use of Accounting Software and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Experience Includes
Prior work experience with system implementations, treasury management, hospitality, real estate investment and/or development accounting
Experience with opportunity zones
CPA certification or master’s degree

Compensation Range: $90,000-100,000; plus 10% bonus
