The budget analyst is a key member of the Budget and Financial Planning Department who contributes to the development of a multi-year, all funds budget including a thorough and accurate listing of budgeted positions. This person contributes to a strong internal control environment through monitoring of budget and actual fiscal activity, formulation of policies and procedures, and interaction with departmental staff and faculty. The budget analyst is a resource for colleagues throughout the university, responding to inquiries, presenting budget information, and training colleagues on budget management and financial reporting. This position produces a variety of standard and ad hoc financial analyses including, but not limited to, multi-year budget forecasts, quarterly projections of revenues and expenses, and other reports to contribute to resource allocation decisions and internal controls.

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
Three to five years of budget or accounting experience preferably in higher education
Demonstrated experience with budget, accounting and financial analysis and reporting
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, and analytics. Competency with other analytical tools such as relational databases and financial modeling
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work within time-sensitive deadlines and to problem solve
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and respectfully partner with faculty, staff, and students. The successful candidate will be relationship-driven, trustworthy, tactful, politically astute, and possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to summarize and communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial colleagues, verbally, in writing, and graphically
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Potential for Permanent Hybrid/Remote Work: The Budget department is part of a project to move some administrative functions to a permanent remote/hybrid work model, including this position. The permanent remote/hybrid work model project is currently in Phase One. During this phase detailed plans and policies will be developed, including the identification and provision of shared, reservable space for the occasional on-campus work that members of department, including this position, may need to do. Applicants should be aware the position will start out 100% remote and may remain largely remote thereafter.
