General Information This position offers full tuition for the MBA, MSBA, MED or MSCJ programs, on-campus housing, and 50 meals per semester in the on-campus dining hall. Successful admission to the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Education or Master of Science in Criminal Justice graduate programs of the University; maintenance of satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree; letter of assignment as a graduate assistant signed by the President of the University. Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics and Head Coach, the Graduate Assistant, Men’s Lacrosse will assist the head coach and assistant coach in recruiting qualified student-athletes to the program, instruct and develop the student-athlete in the sport of men's lacrosse, game preparation, and community involvement. Instruction should include, but not limited to the rules, strategies, and techniques relating to practice and competition in this sport. The Graduate Assistant will also support the mission and goals of the Athletic Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Coaching, Instruction, and Team Administration (60%) Assist the head coach to organize and conduct practices during the traditional season (as defined by the National Collegiate Athletic Association) for the sport. Non-traditional (or out of season) season practices may be required; Assist the Head coach to serve as the representative of the department and the College during team travel for in- and out-of-season competition; Assist the head coach in management of operational budget issues: Participate in uniform and equipment purchase process; help plan and coordinate team travel under the supervision of Director of Athletics’ Office; help develop and implement fund-raising strategies; Assist the Head coach to complete in-and off-season scheduling for the program. Work within NCAA guidelines regarding the start of the season, dates of competition, and end of the season; Ability to represent the Department of Athletics at all on-campus Admissions Open Houses and/or other predetermined events; Other duties as assigned by the head coach. Recruiting (40%) Assist the Head coach in developing a recruiting strategy to achieve recruiting goals as pre-approved by the Director of Athletics. Work with the Head Coach and Office of Admission to recruit qualified prospective student-athletes, both incoming freshmen and transfers to Lincoln Memorial University. Included are off-campus contacts and evaluations as well as serving as LMU representative during on-campus prospect visits. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Proven integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of men’s lacrosse are required. Candidates should possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified student-athletes. Ability to effectively communicate with students, coaches, college administrators, and parents; A high level of independence and organization is required; Available for weekend, evening, spring/fall breaks, and early morning practices and events; Must have a valid driver’s license. Education Bachelor’s degree and full acceptance into one of the Lincoln Memorial University graduate programs required. Proven successful coaching preferred but not required, preferably at the collegiate level or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and South Atlantic Conference regulations required. Technology Skills Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Proficient with internet and email; ability to learn new applications quickly including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. |
