Western University
Western University delivers an academic experience second to none. Western challenges the best and brightest faculty, staff and students to commit to the highest global standards. Our research excellence expands knowledge and drives discovery with real-world application. Western attracts individuals with a broad worldview, seeking to study, influence and lead in the international community. Since 1878, The Western Experience has combined academic excellence with life-long opportunities for intellectual, social and cultural growth in order to better serve our communities. The mission of Western International is to direct and support the University’s international strategy (which is directly linked to the University’s strategic plan), while acting as a resource to faculties and departments across the Western community. The strategic and operational priorities of Western International fall under four functional headings: 1) International Student Recruitment; 2) International Learning; 3) International Student Services; 4) International Relations. Beyond these functional areas, Western International supports and facilitates the development of international activities as articulated in the international strategic plan across all areas on campus. Western University is working to improve its collaboration with international partners who sponsor students for a full degree program and is seeking to substantially increase the number of sponsored students at Western. In collaboration with Faculties and Central Units, the International Sponsored Students Manager is responsible for researching, developing, proposing, implementing, and evaluating programs and strategies to create new international partnerships and strengthen our relationships with existing partners, in order to attract sponsored students, especially graduate students, from abroad who come sponsored by organizations and institutions in their home country. The incumbent will arrange and attend meetings and events with international partners and sponsoring agencies, coordinate collaboration networks on sponsored student mobility, and will develop ongoing relationships with targeted agencies. The Manager will create systems and structures that provide a central location for both students and sponsoring agents, and will ensure international sponsored students become successful Western graduates by liaising and collaborating with the campus community and international partners to ensure their needs are met and programs and services will satisfy sponsors and their students. The incumbent will provide support and guidance to international students throughout their academic career, responding to inquiries and making referrals to campus resources as required.
