SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II University Technology Services Management Group - Network Services Northeastern Illinois University
Responsibilities: The focus of this position is to install, maintain and administer a complex network including Microsoft, Oracle Solaris, VMware and Red Hat Linux systems; work is performed under the supervision and guidance of experienced systems staff utilizing education and training in systems administration and networking, and can involve project work with other members of University Technology Services (UTS). This position is under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, systems Management Group.
High School graduation or equivalent
Two academic years of college/vocational/technical training in computer related field and 12 months of work experience related to computer software or hardware OR
30 months of work experience related to computer software or hardware OR
Any combination of education and experience that totals 30 months
Installation, maintenance and administer a complex network including VMware and Red Hat Linux Systems, Microsoft Systems, network switches, access points and related hardware and software.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO UNDERTAKE JOB: 1. Expert knowledge of all systems and software with the department 2. Expert knowledge of diagnosing system problems for all systems within the department 3. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems 4. Ability to train, oversee and coordinate activities of lower-level employees 5. Ability to work independently 6. Advanced communications' skills
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 per year
Hours: To Be Determined (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
