We are looking for an outstanding Trainer & Senior Career Navigator with a heart for those who need second chances. We want some who will create, revise, and disseminate information and train clients on vocational opportunities in response to current skills and desires. We want someone who is able to demonstrate the value and efficacy of well-thought approaches to incorporating soft skills, vocational training, continuing education, job placement, job coaching, and career advancement in ways that result in obtaining consistent gainful employment in areas that pay. We desire a Trainer/Senior Navigator who continuously looks for opportunities to innovate within the workforce development sector and who will work closely with outreach, development and service delivery teams and/or partners to identify and match participants with opportunities that result in milestone achievements and measureable outcomes for the long-term success of both the program and its participants.
What you’ll do
Provide Anger Management facilitation and Job Readiness training to U-Turn Permitted Program cohorts
Function as the central focus of services to jobseeker and referred clients; and provide eligibility determination and group orientation and assessment as needed
Orient, interview, and counsels clients; and recommends most appropriate training/non-training programs
Provide career & financial coaching, job development, and placement assistance to personal caseload of clients
Recruit jobseeker for training to determine suitability for program and likelihood of successful placement
Maintains case notes of all activities in the electronic system for all applicants in conjunction with client hard file as required documentation
Prepares Individual Employment Plan (IEP) in order to discuss realistic short-and/or long term goal(s) with clients
Performs client follow-up on IEP no-show appointments
Prepare combined financial assessment for clients through Salesforce, our client management system
Assist clients in developing a budget and career goals
Develops client records and maintains client file with up to date information
Generate job leads and forward to business services
Ensure clients understanding of following appropriate/inappropriate business behaviors
Ensure clients’ job readiness by reviewing/reinforcing job readiness criteria
Instrumental in helping clients to develop resumes and professional portfolios
Identify and effectively resolve self-imposed barriers
Attend monthly meetings with funders and community partners in order to provide program information and updates
Track monthly progress of program data and provide written reports with program updates
Provide supervision for interns
Who you are
You have experience in career development, job development and/or job placement
You have a Bachelor’s degree in social services, counseling, education or other relevant degree
You are available to facilitate day and evenings classes
You have a facility with Google Suite and Microsoft office
You are very comfortable and adept at using computer and mobile computing technology like Wi-Fi, laptops, smart phones, and web based products
You have the ability to effectively transition between multiple work locations
You are a strong coach who flourishes with mentoring, developing and nurturing raw talent and individuals with limited work experience
You are highly motivated and entrepreneurial and willing to thrive in a start-up atmosphere, with the ability to be flexible
You have great written and oral communication skills and are able to interact with any audience regardless of background
You have experience using Salesforce or other similar databases for client records maintenance
You have the ability to develop curricula as required
Minimum of 15 semester hours in social service related instruction required
Strong knowledge of vocational training markets
Car and valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance required

NLEN was founded in 1999 through an 18-month community planning effort led by the Steans Family Foundation to serve the unmet employment needs of the North Lawndale community. In 2004, we launched Sweet Beginnings, a social enterprise and wholly owned subsidiary of the North Lawndale Employment Network.
