Perform related duties as assigned by the President to support the mission of the University.
Demonstrates pride and adaptability for Georgia Southern University culture and traditions.
Advise University President in maintaining athletics program consistent with all NCAA and SunBelt and Southern Conferences rules and regulations.
Direct and oversee administration of University's men’s and women’s athletics programs, including coordination and review of scheduling for all intercollegiate sports and athletic events.
Provide direct oversight of all administrative, operational and business functions in accordance with University System of Georgia Board of Regents, NCAA, Conference and Institutional policies and procedure.
Recruit and provide for selection, organization and supervision of Athletics staff, including coaches, to manage a balanced athletics program for all students.
Delegate specific responsibilities to ensure efficient, productive operations of all administrative, business, fiscal, and athletics activities of Department.
Ensure timely development, appropriate approvals, proper controls and overall supervision of annual operating budget and capital projects.
Provide leadership for overall fundraising activities of Department, manage a robust budget, and develop long-range plan.
Develop and implement controls to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference and University System of Georgia Board of Regents rules and regulations.
Engage President, Vice President for Business and Finance, Faculty Representative, and head coaches before representing Institution at conference and NCAA meetings.
Organize, direct, and participate in activities to positively promote public image of Institution and Department to community and general public.
Serve on Institution, Conference, and NCAA committees that vitally concern University Athletics.
Serve as liaison with athletics departments throughout NCAA membership to ensure that Georgia Southern Athletics performs at highest level of sportsmanship and integrity.
Be committed to educational pursuits of student-athletes.
Provide an environment that encourages professional enhancement and development for all staff and coaches and student-athletes; an optimistic vision for the leadership and character development of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Be committed to and demonstrate understanding, acceptance and compliance with NCAA and institutional athletic related rules and regulations at all times.
Communicate NCAA compliance standards and assist with rules education.
Report all known or suspected violations of NCAA or conference regulations to President and, if necessary, appropriate Athletic or Institutional administrator.
Be committed to the mental and physical wellbeing of the student athletes, ensuring unchallengeable authority from the sports medicine staff and coaches, following NCAA best practices.
Follow safety and risk management policies in performance of work, remaining committed to preventing risk of liability in decision-making as it relates to the athletic department.
MinimumEducation and Experience Requirements:
Ten (10) or more years of work experience in intercollegiate athletics or in an industry with relevant, transferable skills
Involvement in fiscal and personnel management, fundraising, public relations, and marketing.
NCAA compliance experience.
Division 1 experience preferred.

Understanding of and proven commitment to comply with NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and institutional athletic rules and regulations.

Physical Job Requirements:
Work performed in indoor and outdoor environments.
Extensive travel required.
Workweek often extends beyond 40 hours to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
