About the role
Zillow Group is seeking an experienced, results-oriented senior compliance manager to lead the company’s SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance program, reporting to the Director of Privacy and Compliance in Zillow’s Legal and Compliance organization. Working in close partnership with stakeholders from across the company, this individual will be a key member of the Corporate Compliance team with primary responsibility for owning the second line of defense oversight over Zillow Group’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting.
This individual will be responsible for building out the business process control compliance component of our SOX program. Develop the strategy for and lead the execution of Zillow Group’s SOX compliance program, including setting long-term objectives
Perform the scoping analysis as part of annual SOX planning to identify significant revenue streams, key processes, systems, based on significant accounts and disclosures
Create and maintain narratives and flowcharts that document key systems and process flows, risks, and controls related to all major business lines
Collaborate with control owners to assist in the creation of processes and procedures that meet SOX compliance requirements and scale with future growth
Communicate identified deficiencies to relevant stakeholders and work with control owners to develop remediation plans and drive remediation projects
Craft a strategy to identify, design, and implement process improvements that enhance and optimize control environments
Partner with business leaders and control owners early to assess potential business changes for compliance risks and impacts to SOX business process controls and objectives, including for new products, M&A activity, and new business lines
Identify gaps in internal controls designs that could lead to financial reporting risk and correct design deficiencies
Develop and maintain continuous compliance monitoring through testing capabilities
Support SOX audit activities for both internal and external audit teams
Operate with strong integrity with the ability to handle projects of a sensitive and confidential nature

Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s Degree in Accounting or Professional Accounting strongly preferred
8+ years’ experience in accounting, compliance, audit, or a similar field, including at least four years experience with a public accounting firm
3+ years’ experience leading a SOX compliance or related program at a public company
CPA required. CIA and/or CISA strongly preferred
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience working for a public company in technology and media, financial services and inventory related industries preferred
Highly detailed understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) requirements and trends
Understanding of SEC reporting requirements as it related to financial statements and related disclosures
Proficient knowledge of SOX requirements for both business processes and their related information technology components
Demonstrated risk management experience, including performing assessments and audits, designing controls, managing enterprise control frameworks, and prioritizing risk
Experience building and developing a team and exceptional people management skills
Strong project management skills, including the ability to set and meet deadlines and keep clear, organized records
Ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and build strong relationships with business partners
Effective decision-making skills, including the ability to choose a course of action in situations involving substantial uncertainty and risk
