What YOU Will Do… Provide support for the ARL Records Management program, assisting in the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and retention schedules while consulting with ARL business and program offices on best practices for records management; assist the Archivist in cataloging, digitizing, and other collections management duties in the care and preservation of the ARL archives' classified and unclassified holdings; ensure the secure storage of archival material, and arrange for secure transfer of materials requested for loan; and assist in the creation of official reports and documents produced by the ARL.
What YOU Need to be Successful… Education: An Associate's degree in a related field plus six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required (A Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Business Administration, or History is desired; a Master's degree with a focus on archival studies is highly desired).
Setting policies and procedures regarding records management
Conducting an organization's records inventory
Formulating a records retention schedule
Configuring and using an electronic records management system
Previous work with business or institutional records in a library or archive environment
Managing the life cycle of inactive records
Managing permanent collections
Providing reference services
Digitizing archival material
Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe products
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
You will be subject to a government security investigation and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
