We are looking for an outstanding Workforce Development Coach with a heart for those who need second chances. We want some who will create, revise, and disseminate information and train clients on vocational opportunities in response to current skills and desires. We want someone who is able to demonstrate the value and efficacy of well-thought approaches to incorporating soft skills, vocational training, continuing education, job placement, job coaching, and career advancement in ways that result in obtaining consistent gainful employment in areas that pay. We desire a Coach who continuously looks for opportunities to innovate within the workforce development sector and who will work closely with outreach, development and service delivery teams and/or partners to identify and match participants with opportunities that result in milestone achievements and measurable outcomes for the long-term success of both the program and its participants.
What you’ll do
Screen jobseekers to determine suitability for program and likelihood of successful placement
Assist in facilitating Job Readiness Training (JRT) or in a class setting
Maintain case notes of all activities in Salesforce in conjunction with client’s hard file
Inform eligible applicants on advantages of participating in training programs
Conduct individual coaching sessions
Prepare Individual Employment Plan (IEP) to discuss short-and/or long term goal(s) with clients
Support clients and document progress in Salesforce as they pursue their IEP goals
Develop, record and maintain applicant files with up to date information
Assist in removing technical barriers such as daycare, transportation, or needed clothing for job
Assist in removing self-imposed barriers by helping them understand the need for appropriate business attire, professional behavior, and a positive mental attitude
Assist in developing and finalizing client resumes
Work with clients to complete a Combined Financial Assessment (CFA).
Work with clients to document a budget and provide strategies for budget improvements.
Work with Senior Financial Coach to develop plans of action and provide tools, resources, and accountability to assist clients in meeting their goals
Work with the Financial Opportunity Center team to ensure that any changes to the client’s CFA (new job, change in credit score, etc.) is properly documented.
Who you are
You have a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related experience in education, counseling, social services or related field required
You have a minimum of 15 semester hours in social service related instruction required
You possess strong knowledge of vocational training markets
You have strong customer service experience
You have experience with data entry and the ability to use Salesforce’s case management tracking system
You are can be available to host recruiting events on evenings and weekends as needed
You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
You have a car, valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance

The North Lawndale Employment Network (NLEN) assists North Lawndale residents through innovative employment initiatives that lead to economic advancement and an improved quality of life. NLEN was founded in 1999 through an 18-month community planning effort led by the Steans Family Foundation to serve the unmet employment needs of the North Lawndale community. In 2004, we launched Sweet Beginnings, a social enterprise and wholly owned subsidiary of the North Lawndale Employment Network.
NLEN continually updates its services to meet the employment needs of clients and the community at large.
