The School of Business, Education, and Social Sciences at Messiah College currently has an opening for the position of Managing Director, International Business Institute.
The International Business Institute (IBI) is a collaborative venture of 15 Christian colleges and universities in the U.S. Owned and managed by Messiah College, IBI runs a 10-week study-travel program involving Europe, the Middle East and Asia each summer. Over 30 business students earn 12 credits as they travel to thirteen countries taking classes and visiting major corporations and cultural/historical sites. Students take classes in global marketing, global business strategy, comparative economic systems and international economics. Corporate visits, including engagement with Fortune Global 2000 companies, are an integral part of the program as well as the ECB in Frankfurt, and the WTO in Geneva. Responsibilities: This full time position is responsible for the overall operation of the Institute. The candidate will plan the itinerary for the program and secure all travel arrangements, facilities, and corporate visits working with outside organizations, resource persons and in-country contacts; recruit and select students for the program; develop the annual budget for the program and maintain financial records; work with the affiliate schools to ensure the academic integrity of the program; market the program on an annual basis; report to and consult with the appropriate offices at Messiah College; oversee the four IBI academic course offerings; travel as necessary to publicize the program and support those schools providing students on a regular basis; maintain ongoing relationships with corporations that are visited and develop additional corporate and organizational visits as needed; search for and develop in-country guest speakers for the program; develop an IBI alumni database and network for purposes of fundraising and alumni networking; provide on-site management of the IBI program and staff in Europe, The Middle East, and Asia; advise the International Business majors; teach two 3-credit courses per year; develop and oversee the extra-curricular activities of the International Business majors; and contribute to the Department of Business.
Qualifications: Education and experience requirements include a graduate degree in business or related field and international travel experience. An MBA with a concentration International Business or a MS in International Business is preferred.
Skills and Characteristics: Ability to plan and implement experiences with student travel; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to develop and work within a budget, and must be able to travel with students for 10 continuous weeks each summer.
