UHV’s School of Business Administration invites applications for a tenure-track opening in Strategic Management at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall 2019 at our central campus in Victoria, TX. Our AACSB International and SACSCOC accredited programs include a Bachelor of Business Administration with several concentrations and two MBA programs. Undergraduate enrollment is over 1000 students, and combined graduate enrollments total nearly 600.
Required qualifications: The position requires an earned doctorate in the field of strategic management or management with coursework in strategic management and leadership from an AACSB accredited university; ABDs with confirmed completion within a few months also will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate strong potential for excellence in research, teaching and service. Candidates must be capable to teach both undergraduate and graduate strategic management and leadership courses (i.e., capstone strategy courses; strategy and the business environment, international strategy, leadership).
Preferred qualifications: Priority will be given to candidates prepared to teach general management course such as principles of management at the graduate and undergraduate level, or in a secondary area of interest.
Position Summary: The position is based in Victoria, Texas. The appointment is a nine-month, tenure-track position with the following responsibilities: teach 9 hours per semester of predominantly undergraduate courses face-to-face in Victoria; pursue high quality scholarly activity; participate in course and program development; perform university and professional service; work cooperatively with diverse groups; perform other duties as assigned by the dean and the chair; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population and faculty. Summer research is supported for the first year for new faculty, and summer teaching and competitive research/teaching grants will usually be available in subsequent years. Because of our outreach mission to serve the larger Texas Gulf Coast area, the position also may require occasional online teaching and travel to our UHV Katy location.
