St. Ambrose University seeks qualified candidates for the Director of Athletics to provide leadership and vision to its Department of Athletics. A start date of July 1, 2019 is expected. Reporting to the President of the University, the Director of Athletics is responsible for successful direction of all athletic activities, coordination of athletic events, and recruitment of student athletes, while maintaining the highest level of ethical and legal standards. This position is responsible for the athletic department budget, revenue development planning, and applicable fundraising for the University, and ensures compliance with all university, NAIA, appropriate Conference and Title IX policy and regulations. The Director of Athletics is responsible for recruitment, retention and leadership of the coaching staff and administration, and for maintaining an open and inclusive environment for all students who utilize athletic programs and facilities. Successful candidate must have a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Athletics Administration, Business, Education or a closely related field. Successful leadership history of a university athletics department with minimum of five years of full-time intercollegiate experience and a record of progressive responsibility including personnel management, fundraising, donor cultivation, compliance and operations experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NAIA and Title IX compliance and regulations. Experience with fiscal reporting/management, preparing and managing operating budgets, equipment inventories, and facilities/game day management; demonstrated commitment to a program of academic and athletic excellence; successful record of and commitment to promoting diversity and gender equity.
