The University of Connecticut is accepting applications for the full time position of Director of Event Management (Business Manager 2), UCP 7. This individual will be responsible for the overall organization and administration of home event management. Responsibilities will include: event coordination/game management; budgetary oversight; scheduling; event staff supervision and training; coordinating payroll and schedules for student employees; enforcing internal operating procedures; overseeing all post season events; assisting with facilities operations and special projects as needed; representing the Division of Athletics to other universities, external offices and agencies; and performance of related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletics/Facilities Management and Planning.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; two to five years of experience in event/game day management, including supervising staff; demonstrated knowledge of budget, and personnel management; prior experience with Event Management Systems (EMS) or similar scheduling software; demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently, effectively and independently; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work flexible and irregular hours including weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; demonstrated experience with NCAA Division I event/game management; prior experience as a Tournament Director for conference and/or NCAA Division I post-season events; and excellent organizational skills.
